Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has called for the emergence of new leaders to steer Nigeria toward a better future. Speaking at a meeting of African Methodist Church and women's group leaders in Lagos, Obasanjo emphasized the urgent need for a leadership renewal in the country.

Highlighting the current challenges, Obasanjo noted that insecurity has turned Nigeria into a perilous environment, plagued by hardship and hunger. He urged President Bola Tinubu to take decisive action to improve the lives of all Nigerians.

"At present, Nigeria is in a state of uncertainty," Obasanjo stated. "We possess abundant resources in Africa, including 70% of the world's copper. Yet, countries like Japan and Singapore, which lack significant natural resources, have thrived. This underscores the importance of leadership. Without effective leadership, our resources will not translate into prosperity."

Obasanjo concluded by stressing the critical role of visionary and knowledgeable leaders in achieving a hopeful, prosperous, and secure Africa. "We cannot build a thriving continent without overcoming oppression. It is imperative that we have leaders with vision, knowledge, and mutual understanding," he asserted.
